Slide 13:  Many nurseries produce various tree species in containers that have been treated with paint containing copper compounds. Treated containers can lead to increased lateral branching, and promote formation of a more fibrous root system that will improve establishment rate of field planted trees. In preliminary work with pawpaw using small containers (0.2 gal), treating the containers did not increase lateral root production.
