Nine KSU students win ten awards at ARD 2000 Research Symposium! Frankfort, KY -- The Association of Research Directors (ARD), Inc. 12th Biennial Research Symposium was held April 19-21, 2000 in Washington D.C. Approximately 500 scientists from the eighteen 1890 Land-Grant Institutions and representatives from USDA, EPA, other federal agencies and private industry met to exchange information on four primary topics: Food Safety, Nutrition and Health; Environmental Stewardship; Small Farms and Rural Development; and New and Enabling Technologies. In addition to oral and poster presentations by university researchers, undergraduate and graduate students could enter competitions judged by university and federal scientists. Students from Kentucky State University (KSU) won 10 of 30 possible student awards available to the 18 universities, an astounding 33%! |
Oral presentations were made by 16 KSU students and poster presentations were made by 3 KSU students. All the winning presentation titles and authors are listed below. Dr. Robert J. Barney, Associate Research Director in the KSU Land Grant Program, served as the Co-Chair of the ARD 2000 Symposium Committee.
