Purchase Pawpaw Seedlings from the KY Division of Forestry Note: The trees offered for sale by the KY Division of Forestry are grown from mixed seed collected from the pawpaw orchards at Kentucky State University. Remember that seedlings are not identical to their parents, fruit quality cannot be guaranteed. Fruit may be of high quality or poor quality. Seedling trees must undergo a period of juvenility before trees will flower and set fruit. Seedling trees will produce fruit about 4-8 years after planting. Seedling trees can be used as rootstock for grafting or budding pawpaw varieties. Grafted or budded trees usually produce fruit 3 to 5 years after planting.
